i'll be in deep water for long periods of time and dont want to risk my four wheeler dying and sucking the water back into my exhaust.the intake is already snorkeled.

Just weld a snorkel on the end of the muffler.
Seal the muffler to the exhaust pipe with "muffler tape" (can get at auto parts stores).
Don't forget to "snorkelise" the carb overflow and breather hoses.

Well, dude you actually kinda answered you own question. The exhaust has to be pushed out in order for the engine to breath. If you get into water that is too deep and the exhaust can't be pushed out, the engine will shutdown. It's kinda the same principle as shoving a potato in a car's tailpipe. Also, using a snorkel on your exhaust helps keep water out the silencer and pipe keeping it them rusting.
