Any info on a tetra called Hamphead?

Its not in the official list of 163 tetra species. They have one at my LFS... 3 inches, $12. Very aggressive & very fast.

It doesn't really look like a tetra to me. It has a long body kinda half way between a mnuba rock fish & a tetra. It has fins on the top & bottom that run the entire length of its body that extend beyond its tail, kinda like a krib.

It was white, with a black spot & a pink spot. It has a small mouth.

It kept trying to run into the glass of its tank to attack a tank of adult platies next door.

I'm fascinated with this fish & would love to build a tank around it.

My local store are chinese guys, who get a lot of oddball stuff from singapore and malaysia. They have tons of flowerhorns in their store.

I found 2 fish with similar looking characteristics in the books.

The store has those 2 fish properly labeled... so I doubt they would seperate this one fish from the lot.

Apistogramma sp. (Breitbinden) female
Macropodus opercularis / Paradise Gourami

I know I have seen a picture of that fish somewhere. I'll look through a few books and see if I can come up with it. Are you sure it's not one of the Acestrorhynchus sp or Chalceus sp?
