The only reason to support ethanol as a fuel is #3, which is a very good reason.

Ethanol is actually a GREATER pollutant than gasoline. Many studies have been done, and have shown that ground level Ozone is greatly increased with the use of Ethanol as a fuel.

http://www.courierpress.com/news/2007/apr/19/study-ethanol-possibly-more-harmful-than-gas/

Ethanol is basically a carbon-hydrogen-oxygen based molecule, so the end result of it's combustion is similar to gasoline. (Carbon Dioxide and Water) if the combustion goes to completion. So there is no decrease in green house gases.

Ethanol fuels are HEAVILY government subsidized. It's the way the government get's farmers to plant corn, and another place for your tax dollars to go. So from the stand point of supporting farmers, well you're already doing that with your tax dollars weather you want to or not.

Using Ethanol will also have the dramatic effect on the economy in the food sector. In that now, corn that was used to produce food products will now be more expensive. (Things like Tortilla, Corn Bread, Anything with corn syrup (and there's alot), and feed for animals, so expect more expensive costs for chicken, beef, and pork)

So do I support Ethanol as a fuel. Sure. If it makes us less dependent on other countries. The key is we can't be purchasing our ethanol from other countries either. Right now a good chunk of our ethanol is coming from countries like Brazil. It just moves our foreign policies/relations else where.

If ethanol can be self sustaining fuel source that we can produce enough of what we need here at home, I support it. I don't support just changing to then become dependent on another foreign country...

Ethonol does not support farmers, only one segment of them. It makes corn more expensive for everybody raising animals as well as the cost of corn for food. This also affects how much corn can be sent to areas of famine in other parts of the world. Brazil raises cane sugar, which does not interfere with the food supply, for ethanol. I think that would be a better choice.

We will have to depend on other countries for oil as long as folks keep getting gas guzzlers and don't adjust their fuel consumption.

for many folk, the words assessment and assessment are the comparable concern. uncertain why they made you chosen the two ? As for ethanol, this is a foul theory. The impact to the nutrition fees far exceeds any earnings of employing it as a gasoline source. study how the lack of corn, because of the fact all of it went to ethanol, affected the fee of grain used to feed pork, pigs, chickens, etc. this previous twelve months.
