My twin baby girls are turning 1 year old! My wife and I are hosting a HUGE first birthday party for them, where we expect anywhere from 40-50 people. We will have over 100 pink balloons, pink cupcakes, a castle shaped jumper, and tons of goodies for our guests. But what is a good gift that a daddy can buy his girls on their first birthday? Ideas I had included an angraved Tiffany teething rattles, but that will take 3 weeks and I only have about 1 week til their party. I also thought about opening a college savings account with $500 in each account to start with, but that doesn't seem like very much fun. Any ideas? Suggestions? Clues? Please help!

It is nice to hear that you love them so much that you are throwing a huge party even if they will not recall a bit in the future, but they will see the pictures and will know that you love them and wanted the best for them since the very begining, About the college savings acount, I will suggest you just a savings account, you still don't know if your kids will go to college or straight to the University, or will not have the necesity to go to college because they will just open up a small business that will grow, you really don't know, unless you will push them to go to college even if they don't want to, that would be Horrible!, a savings account that can help them start in live, with a transportation, or whatever they might need will be a lovely present, you can always incentive them to go to college and have a carrier, but there is no garantee that they will.
Keep up the good work!

Hi, how about a personalized book? Kids love to hear their name in the storyline. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Sesame Street, Teddy Bear Land, Three Little Pigs, Mother Goose, Ballerina Princess, Little Mermaid, Sports titles and so many more. Check it out - they're very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful & unique gift... Good Luck!

If he is standing a little and crawling a little, look for those toys designed to look like little cars, with steering wheels, that the babies sit on and push with their feet to move. Not the ones with pedals, and nothing too high up from the ground--those are for older kids. I have seen some for around $15 at KayBee Toys and Walmart. My eleven month old spent about an hour trying three different ones at Kaybee the other day: they have different buttons and other toys. He liked one with gears the best. And he liked to just sit on the floor and push it. I'm going to see what he's getting from my mother for his birthday on the 24th, but I'm very tempted to buy one . . .

I would get each girl a beautiful music box. It is something that they will have forever. AND I would put a necklace in one box and some earings or bracelet in the other as a suprise for MOMMY. Dude- she has been caring for twins for a year. She deserves a treat, too!

My husband bought our daughter her first doll for her first birthday. I thought she was a little too young for it, but within weeks it became her favorite toy, and still is! She is 19 months now. She loves that baby!

So, maybe a nice doll?

There will be so much going on they won't know if you gave them a gift or not - the college fund is a great idea.

I like the savings account or savings bond idea.

Or for something a bit more sentimental you can have handprints done in clay. You can get theirs inside of yours.
