I have a 1991 Honda Accord LX 2 door and whenever I park it under the sun, it doesn't start. I wanna fix it myself and I don't want to spend a lot of money. Please help.

the problem is with the main relay that controls the fuel pump. the relay has a circuit board that expands when the interior of the passenger compartment gets high from the solar heating. when the circuit board expands the circuits break contact and the car won't start.

you will need to replace the relay. On your car the relay is located in the left side (drivers side) of the instrument panel behind the coin tray. I think the relay is grey in color but I may be wrong on that. You'll need to buy the relay at a Honda dealer; they can tell you for certain where its located. It shouldn't be a big deal to replace it.

I had this exact problem with my '91 Accord EX. Changing the main relay fixed it.

I agree It is the main relay . but instead of replacing , I resolder the circuit board . have not had a repeat failure yet.

honda guru is 100% correct...stupid main relays....whack the dashboard with the heel of your hand,sometimes that will get you home.
