a mucus plug loss will give you a "bloody show" it is not something to be scared about, it will not be RED it will have a pink show to it...
you can be dilated without having lost your plug yet. Our board owner is 35 wks today, 2 cm and still has her plug! It is the sign of actual labor so you should not lose it until it is that time or very close to it!

I have successfully given birth to four, yes I said four children. I only saw my plug with one of them, the others, it just disappeared. My point is that you may have lost it and didn't know, BUT that is not an indicator of imminent birth. What I am trying to say is that you are only diallated to a two, you have at least a week, maybe even two weeks before the doctor will tell you it is time. If this is your first, you could have three weeks before the doc says to schedule an induction (give you meds through an IV to force your body to go into labor, meds are called pitossin or is it potossin?).
Basically, you are fine and you have a little bit of time left to finish getting ready. Good luck.

The mucous plug is still there coz if it came away you would have seen it for definate. Doesn`t sound like you`re going into labour any time soon, so spend the time preparing and getting everything ready for the little one and yourself. And stop worrying, relax, and do it all at your leisure. Plenty of time. Good luck. x

It could still be there. My OB/GYN told me that most women don't notice when they lose it. Best of luck! And yes you could be stuck at 2 for quite some time, or you could go straight to 10! Just depends on that baby!
