i was thinking of bells, but i dunno if its possible to play well in 2 weeks!

The triangle. But, you'd still have to know how to read a time signature.

Is it a rule that you must play an instrument to be in marching band to be on the flag team or something? If so, I'd be filing a complaint with the school board because other than the half time show and the flags being a part of what the marching band is doing, it has nothing at all to do with playing an instrument. Making some child suffer through playing the triangle or some other insignificant instrument just to twirl flags is ridiculous.

Cymbals is quite easy...This goes along with percussion. Percussion is too hard, because you have to learn beats, and you keep the rhythm of the whole band. Triangle, bells, cymbals, xylophone are all good choices and require little experience.
