I live in New York I would like to start a career in modeling I am 110 ponds and 5'7 maybe 5'8.....Everyone tells me to go for it but how would I get started....? without investing too much money ......

If you can't afford professional shots, have a friend who's good with a camera take some pics of you in natural light (4:00 in the afternoon is usually good) and make a composite sheet of about 3 of the best ones including at least one face shot and one full body shot and send them around to modeling agencies along with a cover letter telling them that you are seeking representation (for print work, runway, or whatever). The pics may not be pro, but they know raw potential when they see it and it would be worth it to them to call you in and at least meet with you to see if you're worth their time. Make sure your name and contact info is on both the photos and the letter because sometimes in a busy office, the two get separated and they might find these great photos on the floor and not know how to contact the girl in the pictures! just hire a professional photographer to take your photos and send them to a modeling agency and if they like you they will call you back. its not hard to find modeling agencies in new York. go for it! I wish you luck.

Heh heh... 'direction! There are plenty of firms that want units age 20+. For illustration, go well with retail outlets. Also, retail outlets love to have photos of sizzling men at the home windows of the shop to trap ladies in. ^-^
