-they are both petrol providers
-BP logo has chaged dramatically from what it was before but Shell has atleast teh original idea of the actual yellow shell but they have just modernised it graphically, not like BP and changed it totally.
-Shell have taken the words off SHELL off its logo as everyone knows who they are now so it is well established now. Any other ideas of similarities and differences? thanks.

BP's most recent flag is green with a yellow sheild with the letters BP in the middle of the shield. When BP made the first radical changes to their corporate flag in lates eighties there was a hugh outcry as the cost soared in excess of ten
Millon pounds. Only to be changed a few years later as it was thought not to be radical enough for a new age of exploration and development.

Shells Corporate flag is white with a red and yellow side panel on the left hand side. And with a yellow coloured shell in the centre of flag traced in red.

BP has of recent years become interested in research development rather than Oil exploration, but still have a big finger in the pie of gas exploration. It still has big percentage of the market of the chemical industry and a decreasing market in the petroleum for the forecourt.

Whereas Shell is still vey much in the what is left of Oil and gas exploration in the both North sea and Africa. And still retains a big chunk of forecourt petroleum sales.

I hope this helps a little, However you must appreciate that some of my info will be outdated and is purely from memory.

Get a clue persons. All gasoline will not be the identical. The octane rating does topic. The manufacturers most often furnish the min. Recomended octane ranking. Larger octane burns cleaner and more efficient. Auto grade gasoline can variety from one zero five(race fuel) to eighty three(knock and clatter) each factor in between is a mixture of higher and reduce octane. Jp108 is jet fuel. The only difference between the manufacturers is the components which are put in them. As to the difference in cost between one manufacturer and yet another, it expenses money to function and maintain amenities similar to refineries and tank farms(storage and transport hubs). If bp price greater than shell then they are almost always upgrading a unit someplace. You dont count on shareholders to pay for that do you?

During the 1950's Shell Oil Tankers sported yellow funnels carrying a red Shell emblem. In 1960, or soon after, the fleet changed to red funnels carrying a yellow Shell. I don't know why they did this, but as far as I am aware BP didn't make similar changes to their funnels.

Just a bit more info for you.....
The company is originally a UK/Iranian business that was called anglo-persian oil.
The name BP which means (British Petroleum) actually belonged to a German oil company trying to break into the UK market just before 2nd World War.
When the war started the UK government took control of the name and years later Anglo-Iranian Oil (as it was later called)
was renamed BP.

Similarities: neither logo makes direct reference to oil. BP makes reference to the Sun as a provider of energy and is green to state their environmental concerns. Shell makes direct reference to the father of Shell's founder, who was seashell trader in England.

Differences: I think just about anything else. What do they mean, their colors, their history, etc.

Are they giving you these kind of questions now in school?

BP decided to go italic and all "modern". Apparently Shell actually have a company manual dedicated to the logo which documents size, shape use etc for instance you have to use it in colour, black and white is unacceptable.

Are you doing a dissertation on this? I hope you don't need 10,000 words! Shell and BP used to be the same company and they've both include the colour yellow.
