Most fresh installs typically involve partitioning and formatting a harddrive as part of the process.

I'd have to say it doesn't matter much what OS you are putting on. If it's a 500 GB harddisk, you've got some waiting to do. I haven't noticed Win2003 to be noticeably longer than older OS's.

That's why admins drink coffee and such other vices. :)

Only to install yes. It could take longer depending on what services you may need to install/configure on it.
