Yea I dont blame you, norton really is lacking. I would recommend zone alarm or trend micro systems pc cilin. Zone alarm has the best firewall on the market and a good anti virus. Neither one of these programs is a system hog like norton. Besides you can download a free trial and decide which one you like more.

Read the webpage and if you like what you read this is the antivirus of choce I have used for over ten years and never one virus.

By culture the Chinese are very secret just about everything and that includes their software.

I have used for years an antivirus program out of Beijing, China that is also used by the Government of China.

This antivirus program does not have the Govt. permission to be rated with all other know antivirus programs.

What I can assure you is that you pay only a one time fee for life that will include all auto updates, and all new versions for life. The Chinese don't believe in having to pay an annual fee for updates or new versions.

I can tell you their technology is light years ahead of any other known antivirus software out there.

If you open a webpage and there is a hidden virus it will clean in realtime. Anything that you download and has even a trace code, it will kill the download and ask you to upload the trace code for investigation. In real time the upload will tell you if it is clean or not.

Will not allow you download, Real Player, because there is a hidden file that is a trojan keylogger. The file was uploaded and traced back to the United States Army, Intelligence Services out of London, England. (Removal of the file Real Player will reject the installation).

Read for yourself at their webpage. I have never had one virus in ten plus years. Plus it will catch any progam with it's dynamic defense system, for software that you download and it does not have a publisher or lic., included.

Twister Trojan Antivirus V7

Very low on resources with scanner running in background.

The key to any Windows based system is to keep the crap off there to start with. Trying to remove with Norton or anything else is like pushing a wet noodle up a straw.

Are you looking for computer security, or the individual programs that protect computers? If you want antivirus, Avast 4-Home and AVG 7.5 are free, and two of the best.

SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware are the two best anti-spyware and anti-malware programs. Both free from download.com

If you have Windows XP, Service Pack 2, you have a firewall as good as any. Use it.

Auslogics Disk Defrag is twice as fast as Windows, and defragging your hard disk should be done regularly, especially if you add music, pictures or lots of downloads.

Microsoft's Live OneCare Cleanup Scan is the quickest and safest way to clean your registry, which needs to be done as regularly as you remove spyware.

Again, if you have Windows XP, use the built-in disk cleanup tool to remove temp files and cookies that build up and slow down your computer. Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and Disk Cleanup. Remove everything it finds.

All of these are free, don't expire and don't require registration. Just keep them updated and use them often.

I recommend Free AVG, Free zonealarm, free adaware, free pctool antivirus... Why pay when you there are many free software that does the job. I have used norton from the past and boy it made my system really slow but that was back in the late 90's... so there products probably improved already....

Download AVG Personal Edition and Lavasoft Ad-Aware Personal from download.com They are both spyware free and both are free for home use. These are some of the best programs I've found and we use them here at the computer repair shop I work at.

Get AVG or Avast. Both are free, and they are both excellent anti-virus security programs. I have Avast, and it found three viruses that the pricey McAfee program missed. Both are on download.com.

I have one called Avast and it's a free program that I got at download.com. A review said that it was as good as the "big boys" so you might give it a try. I've been happy with it.
