We had a cival court case. The arbitrators made the following award for the defendent and against the plaintiff

It MEANS the defendants won, duh!

now if it was non binding arbitration, you could still present your case in court, if it was binding arbitration you've lost

The defendent is the person being sued, while the plaintiff is the person claiming that a wrong has been done to him (or her) and his taking the other person (the defendent) to court.

That means they decided in the favor of the person who was sued (defendent) rather than in the favor of the person doing the suing (plaintiff).

If you brought the case against the other party(s) in the case then you lost. If you were the party that was sued then you won.

If you were the person bringing the law-suite you lost. If you were the person being sued, you won.
