yes. That baby is yours and you should have a say in whether or not she can kill it. It takes two people to make a baby. If the father wants the baby, he should have the right to keep it. The baby may be in her body, but it isn't a part of her.

I believe there should be a spousal notification requirement for abortions. However, there should not be a parental notification requirement. The father of the baby is the only person other than the mother of the baby who has any right to determine whether the baby should be born.
However, there should not be any child support at all. It is preferable that the parents of a baby would marry, but if that doesn't happen, the one with custody should be responsible for all the costs they incur.
The courts are getting all of this stuff backwards. We should take away the federal court jurisdiction over abortion (which they shouldn't have in the first place, the commerce clause does not permit the Federal government to decide abortion laws or civil rights laws or most of the unconstitutional things they pass using it as the justification).

It's not a double standard if you are willing to carry the fetus in your womb on alternate weeks until delivery.
Look at it from the perspective of the rest of society. If you are a person who engages in sexual relations without a family commitment, then you're producing kids who will not have a male parent in their daily lives (or if the mother sloughs the baby off on you, no female parent).
Oh, adoption might work--especially if (alas) it's a white infant--but childbirth is emotionally powerful for most women and giving up the infant can be emotionally devastating.
So society wants you to:
a. Respect the woman's emotions, since it's her body, heart and mind that will be occupied for the better part of two years with a pregnancy and an infant should she choose to carry to term--or her heart that will suffer if there's an adoption.
b. Pay your share (not really; state's child support formulas are moronic) for the child's well-being so that the welfare state isn't increased.
c. Think hard about sexual responsibility the next time you find a honey that you want to canoodle with.
If you actually are in a situation where you want the child, and she hasn't aborted yet, offer to pay her to carry to term and sign legal papers absolving her of any child support. Maybe she'll go for incentives.

Yes, it is a double standard. Fathers who want to keep their babies have no say so.
You may be upset about the child support now but you will be glad you did the right thing later. It is not the child's fault he/she was born and it deserves a chance at life. You can be a good father by supporting the child and being part of its life. You will be blessed by God for doing the right thing. Try to look at this in a different way. You are bringing a new life into the world. Maybe your child will discover the cure for cancer or HIV. Maybe your child will be a music star or a great athlete. Every child has incredible potential. Choose to love your child and be there for it. You never know what wonderful thing lies ahead!!

I am a female but yet I still somewhat agree. But you have to realize she is the one who has to carry the baby for 9 months (if thats what she wants to do) and if you do end up paying child support, it's not easy raising a child by yourself with all the money in the world,.

That's why you have to use a condom EVERY SINGLE TIME you have sex,
especially, if you don't know what kind of woman you are dealing with.
If you have any feeling she may want an abortion if something happened,
you need to bag it all the time.
With spermicide.
And in addition, make her promise she is on the pill or another form of birth control.
Unfortunately, there are just too many people, men and women, who obviously just don't give a flying fk. And they have consistant unprotected sex.
Sorry people, but you should be insisting on wearing a condom every time anyway,
you don't want to be a dirty disease spreader, do you?

You are responsible for child support because you fathered a child. Quit whining and accept your responsibility. If you didn't want the baby, you shouldn't have been doing things that make babies. There is a risk involved, and you accepted it when you had sex. Now act like a man, pay your money, and try to be a good role model to your child.

The easy answer you don't wanna hear for this one is:
If you didn't want the child, you would have been more careful.
Since you can't really change that, yes it is a double standard.
And maybe it's because she has to carry the baby for 9 months and you don't. That's a double standard too.

Of course it is a double standard, however, you appear to think the rest of society should pay for your play. Had you not had sex, no child would have been created. Do you really think I should be required to pay for your mistake?

Yes, it's a double standard.
Quite frankly, if women want the right to abortions, they should give up the right to child support. That's the only way to be fair to BOTH women and men.
HOWEVER, neither of these options is fair to the child. And the child's rights should trump BOTH those of the mother and the father.
In short, if you knock up a girl, you should marry her and raise the kid.
