An alcoholic was my father, an alcoholic was my ex boyfriend (who abused me) and by chance I also had an ex friend who is an alcoholic and believe it or not my neighbor is an alcoholic! My very good friend is a recovered alcoholic! I now have known so many in my life, I gotta ask, what lesson am I not getting! But, what do i think an alcoholic is?? Someone who's life is ruled by the drink. Their family and friends and job is compromised and ruined by alcohol. They have no control over it, it is like a demon in their life and they sink lower. If something clicks in their mind to get better and take control of their lives, then, God bless and I wish them luck! All I know is that others that abused alcohol in my life made theirs and my life hell!

Don't you suppose that being an alcoholic has something to do with --Drinking Alcohol? Alcoholism is a way of Death for some people, and a Life with drinking as its identifying feature is only the long road there.
An alcoholic has become this, sometimes rapidly, sometimes slowly. Drinking themselves to Death has become the distinguishing feature of their miserable and dangerous lives. The inability to stop drinking on their own power, no matter how strong the need or desire is the defining mark.

An alcoholic is a person who has let alcohol take control of their life, emotions and decisions. They are unable to get through the stress of life without alcohol to numb them physically and emotionally. I've been there and I was self medicating after a car accident. Depression set in and along with the pain I let the alcohol take control of my life and my personality. I have been sober for 10 years now and am thankful I made it through those couple of dark years.

An alcoholic is somebody who needs alcohol to cope with simple, day-to-day problems. It affects the whole family... It's just a trainwreck that crashes and burns and can be stopped by rehab (detox) and counseling. It's hard on everybody, and you're stuck with the disease (yes, alcoholism is a disease) for the rest of your life.

Someone who drinks habitually to point that it interferes with their daily functional life. Such as being late to work or not showing up at all. Cancelling appointments, ruining relationships, ect...

As it is right now, sexual content in ads is like a ray of light when you've been locked in a dark room. Of course it's appealing. And the bigger and brighter that ray of light is, the more appealing it will be.

its when you cant go a day without a sip of alcohol. you feel like you need it to be sane. it interferes with your relationships and you have trouble functioning from day to day. you cant get out of bed. you become depressed and feel that alcohol is the way to solve your problems.

when in reality, alcohol is only making your problems worse.

just my opinion. hope this helps.

seek help if you believe you are an alcoholic.
