An oval has a small end and a large end. This causes it to roll in circles. This has survival value because if you lay an egg on a ledge (Eagles, Hawks, etc), and the egg starts to roll, it will loop around in a circle & will not fall off.
Try pushing an egg on a table & letting go. It will roll in a circle.

A oval egg comes out easier than a round one of the same volume (unless the oval egg is tilted on its side). Think about it.

"Oval" means "egg-shaped" so you are asking "Why are eggs egg-shaped?". Hmmmm
Eggs are shaped the way they are for ease of laying. Egg shapes range from almost spherical to very tapered. The very tapered eggs are laid by cliff-nesting birds. tapered eggs won't roll off the ledge. The largest egg in proportion to body size is that laid by the kiwi in New Zealand. It is about 20% of the he's body weight. It would be similar to a human giving birth to a large water melon.

Because the Chicken would slam shut causing unbearable pain if they were square. Honestly I think it is because the shape makes them stronger and less easy to break. Mother Nature protecting the unborn I think.
