Since I happen to know that in order to get an MBA in business it is required. I think it must be in politics as well. His advise on leadership was to do and say what ever it takes to get what you want. Ruthlessness is pretty much the name of the game. I am really not against freedom of speech, thought, etc. But maybe this book should be banned. Or maybe a good question to ask a politician is where he stands on Machaviallism, and then watch him for purgery.

Maybe Machiavellie's "Prince" should be required reading so we at least know what we are up against in the business world--it seems to perminiate our entire society and world.

I enjoyed the book. (Note I did not say agreed). I think everybody should read it. One must understand their enemies.

Matt is correct. If you graduate in political science, then you have probably read Prince. However, not all politicians are Political Science graduates, therefore, the answer is no. It is not required reading to be a politician, since you can be a politician without studying politics.

That is RIDICULOUS! I think that if THAT's required, an equal balance on the other end of reading should be required as well, such as Rousseau's "The Social Contract". I think you would like that one much better ;-)
