they get a pay raise for doing a nothing temp job and we hardworking motivated individuals take a pay cut when every company raises their prices to compensate for the pay raises. that makes no sense whatsoever!

Because it will increase unemployment and increase the amount of people who dont have health insurance coverage.

As the other person mentioned her aunt will just lay off some people.

Small business only has so much money to worth with. If the job a person does isnt worth paying them more or they cant afford to pay them more then someone is going to either get cut back to part time or be fired/layed off.

So raising the minimum wage doesnt help things.

Oh in addition the ones who could pay a citizen a nominal wage have more of an incentive to hire illegals now as well since there isnt a minimum wage there.
Since the government doesnt seem to be concerned about that then we also have that issue.

How long until unemployment increases? They should think about ending the minimum wage as it is unconstitutional and bad for workers making those wages.

If they get a pay raise does that mean everyone else does?In other words, if you're making 7.00 an hour and the minimum wage is 6.00, and they raise the minimum to 7.00, does the 7.00 an hour employee get bumped up to 8.00 an hour.

You're aware, aren't you, that about 30 states, some with republican legislatures, have already raised their minimum wage above the federal $5.15?

By the way, I'd ask you to provide stats to back up your assertion that 85% of liberals make minimum wage but I don't have to because they don't exist.

You should investigate a living wage with economical scrutiny before you step into an arena of your betters. We'll eat you up. Sometime juxtaposition a welfare situation with a living wage situation and examine the results both from the economical view as well as morality and ethics. Can you handle the truth? No? Unfortunately, a lot of small and mid sized businesses are going to suffer now! My aunt owns a restaurant and is going to lay off half of her waiting staff because of it! It just hurts the efficiency and overall customer satisfaction, thus hurting the business! WAY TO GO DEMS! WOOHOO, I hope they feel good about that! It's just gonna raise unemployment, maybe not dramatically, but I bet it will go up because of this.

Why in the world would you object that people who work hard and are underpaid might make a decent living?? Would you enjoy doing the things that low income people have to do??
