My undergraduate is in Business. I am currently taking required courses needed for medical school. My goal is to become a pediatrition and ultimately have my own practice.

Any advice? ....or anyone in the same situation?

I'm non-trad as well. If you have a MySpace account, I'd recommend you join the Non-Trad Pre-Med group. The guy who runs it is pretty cool.

My undergrad career was pretty typical for a pre-med. I studied molecular biology. I volunteered in a hospital. Took the classes. Took the MCAT.

Grades were mediocre, so I went to grad school. Now I'm working. I'm 26 and I'm applying now. I'll be 33 by the time I finish residency (I'm thinking family med or infectious diseases). My biggest concern is trying to juggle having a family, being in residency, and working.

As for the MCAT, I don't know the turn-around time for the computer-based MCAT. Under the old system, we preferred to take the April exam so the scores would be released in time for applications. For example, I took the April 2005 exam; AMCAS applications for Fall 2006 entering class opened in June 2005. The application process including interviews can take almost a full year.

I tackled college after the beginning of my third baby. If that wasn't undesirable adequate, i grew to become right into a severe college drop out and basically performed the 8th grade. I had my GED and concept this grew to become into impossible yet I did it. I earned a BA degree with honors via following some regulations I set: - I basically went area time, 2 training consistent with semester - Took a stability of on line and face-to-face training. This cut back down on removed from abode time. - stored a framed record of the rates from those people who reported i could not do it. My motivation. - Surrounded myself with basically people who supported me different than all the traditional "college achievement suggestion" you may seem up, those little issues incredibly did help me. good success!
