Well actually i think americans are more selective. I remember 1997 was a bad year for rubbish blockbusters Speed 2 and Batman and Robin turned them away in droves. Adam sandler movies are big hits but i dont see them as bad because they make people laugh. After a hard day at work or a stressful day a lot of people dont want to watch anything too serious or gritty. Take World Trade Centre it may have been too soon for some people.

Well, "bad films" is a little broad sir. Can you give me examples of what you deem "bad films". I'll be the first to admit that the majority of films, anywhere, are not what I would call masterpieces. However, each movie serves its purpose...excpet Date Movie and Epic Movie, they're just terrible. But, the more pressing matter here is how you addressed us as the "American public". First off, why not just say americans? Is there such thing the "American private"? Do you consider yourself "American private"? You can't state that the entire nation of America watches bad films. I'm sure there are plenty of Americans that share in your taste in movies...which would debunk your claim that all of the "American public" watches bad films. Effing douche.

Guess you arent american.

Im indian & I have to say. That america makes the best movies.

Unlike indian films which some are lame as anything & some are decent & good. American movies just have a better storyline & movies where you dont know what might happen.

Plus not a lot of people here get foreign movies & cant speak the language. Plus they probably dont have english subtitles. So its kinda pointless to search & watch movies in a language you dont understand or have subtitiles to enjoy.

Are you incinuating that the British don't watch bad films? Or the Canadians? Or the Brazilians? Don't say that ALL Americans watch bad films just because Hollywood produces them.

Define "bad" films. Should we be watching artsy-fartsy, incomprehensible foreign films with subtitles and no plot? Should we be watching only documentaries? What exactly are we supposed to watch? Movies are for mindless entertainment. If I want to feed my brain, I read a book.

Because we are from AMERICA the greatest country on this planet & we have the freedom to whatever we choose. other countries are just jealous. other countriies subconsciousally know we are better than them & they & they cant stand it. You probably enjoy 3 hour soccer matches that end 0-0 which is as lame as it gets. Bow to America we probably own your country or oneday will.

We just all like to be entertained, and not be bored. So even if we know it's going to be a stupid movie we still watch is anyways. Plus it depends on who you ask is a "bad" movie. And we all just like to say that we've seen that movie.
