I'm a huge BMW fan, but I think it is a horrible choice of car for a young guy. Especially one that has been in an accident and needs a repair. BMW is a luxury brand. It always has been. They have expensive parts and service. The insurance is expensive on them. And frankly as they get towards the end of their lives, they are not always the most reliable of cars. Sorry to sound boring, but I think you could and should be a lot more practical. Get something like a Ford Focus, or a Honda, Toyota or Nissan. Something small, reliable, easy to maintain, and cheap. And I thought I would drive responsibly when I first got a car. It's easier said than done. Take it from real personal experience. You have to be careful about that first car, or you are going to waste a ton of money.

Invest $12 to buy this book. http://www.amazon.com/Haynes-Manuals-BMW-3-Series-Manual/dp/B0002JMHS2/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-6085011-8878442?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1177493475&sr=8-1

The book has step by step instructions with photos and advice.

This will help you with this and future repairs.

There're more expensive manuals (by Bentley), if you're really into it.
