I'm seeing a bombardment of reformulated laundry soap on the market that is no better than the original product! Could it be the laundry companies want to be more profitable by putting a lower quality soap on the market (that is worse than the original)?

It's a marketing ploy. People always want to buy something new. If they believe it's improved because of a reformulation, people who bought the product once and didn't like it may try it again.

I am not impressed with any commercially made laundry detergent. That is why I make my own laundry soap with a little Zest, Washing Soda, and Borax. WaaaaLA, and for pennies per load! I forgot about commercial soaps a long time ago!

It is usually reformulated to reduce things like the amount of sudsing, etc... not generally the cleaning quality.

Research has shown that people are more apt to buy something if it says "new" or "improved" on the label.

They are just trying to revive their market share. A lot of the time they don't even make a noticeable change.
