Since I heard that Robert Byrd was a KKK member, I have been curious to find out if there were any other members of the KKK in the US Congress or Senate.

No.

Ever heard of Strom Thurmond?

He WAS a Democrat until 1964, then turned Republican when the parties basically switched, as others have pointed out to you. So yeah, pre-60's KKK was most likely a Democrat, and after 60's most racists and segregationists are Republican.

The anti-Lincoln South voted Democrat for decades after the Civil War, and southern leaders were often in the Klan. With the advent of FDR and the New Deal, the Democratic party changed, and these same southern Democrats found their way to the Republican party over time.

So if you follow the Fox credo of "fair and balanced", you must ask - in addition to your question - which of these race-focused Democrats switched to the Republican side?
