disagree. his show is always making fun of people. people blew it out of proportion. once it reached the media, it became a even bigger deal, and at that point instead of suspending him they had to fire him. He was comparing two teams, and both teams had black girls in it, he was comparing them both, and he said those things about the rutgers team. No one cared when jesse jackson talked about jews.
The thing is African Americans were forced into slavery, and it's not fair to say thing like that about them now either. But if you think about it like that, then all races should be treated like that. don't you think? how come no one gets offened when people say things about asians, indians, hispanics? I was listening to a radio show, where this guy called dell support or something and called this indian girl rat eater, cow worshiper... and some awful things i probably can't type. If its about a black person, then only is it an issue and gets to the media, how is that fair.

You can totaly censure the media and racist beliefs will still exist. The sad part is that Revs,Jackson and Sharpton glorified the event for their own selfish reasons and in the process, pulled a team of MAGNIFICANT STUDENT ATHLETES onto the playing field of a PIPSQUEEK. That being said Imus is the winner,he had just been given a $50 million contract that CBS has to honer, so now he can retire and get paid.

If I worked at McDonald's and called a customer or a co-worker a "nappy headed ho" there would be no apologizing, no second chances. I would be fired from my minimum wage job mind you, not from a multi million dollar gig. Also I would probably have trouble with finding another minimum wage job because of that "slip of the tongue" or what have you. I believe in free speech but at the same time have no problems with someone getting fired for doing something that I would be terminated within minutes at my job.

I don't think he should have gotten fired...disciplined yes. Afterall, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton never got fired after what they said about the Duke Lacrosse players. There is definitely a double standard there.

I think he should have gotten fired because he has no talent. He was just trying to be a shock jock and made a stupid comment that wasn't worth getting fired over. Our society has gone way over the top with being so pc.

I agree with the decision to fire him. However, the reason he got fired had nothing to do with what he said. He got fired because it would have cost them millions of dollars in advertising.

Well, he got fired. There's nothing to agree or disagree about there. Now, if you mean SHOULD he have been fired, that is a question. I wish he hadn't , but I understand why he was.

Disagree...he is an old man...they are nappy headed hoes...rappers can say what they want...black and white and yellow..etc etc... When did Al Sharpton become such a representitve of free speech? Oh when an old man tried to be "hip"...his apology was enough...

I don't agree. I don't even believe he should have apologized. I hate this. it is freedom of speech and everyone is entitled to an opinion. Profanity is a different story, but i don't believe he should be punished for talking bad about the black. exeryone does it.
