Pyro's personality was not compatible with the rest of the X-Men. He could not stand being treated like a child, and having to earn the respect of Professor X and the older X-Men. Magneto played on Pyro's psyche, and stroked his ego. Eventually, Pyro felt out of place with the X-men and left with Magneto to continue his growth and training.

Number 1 your view of the X-Men is not streamline fandom. Psylocke, Gambit and Jubilee are not worthy characters to build a movie around. They are late additions to the team with no history. Your mention of vague characters, Colossus and Archangel!!! Angel being one of the original X-Men - how dare you. Colossus, Peter Rasputin has been a stalwart on the team for decades. You obviously are not a real fan or you would know these facts. Maybe you grew up with the Saturday morning cartoon version in the 90's (since you think more of Gambit/Jubilee )of the X-Men which are nothing compared to the originals Uncanny version after issue 100. Secondly, Just too many character to get involved. They had to take 5 or 6 and do the job with what they had. In Hollywood today you can't hardly sign an actor and say your going to be a superhero but you have no lines or you will only be in 5 minutes. Everyone wants to be IT.. The magnitude of the cast that your talking about would have made the movie 3 hours plus. Can't put that much CGI in it because your don't want your budget to be 200 million. Third - No more X-Men movies but Wolverine is due out late next year.

Pyro joined Magneto (in the film) because Magneto appealed to Pyro's ego. He drew the connection that mutants were like gods, and asked the question, why not glory in the use of your powers rather than use them for non-mutants who hate you?

Pyro is a rebel in the movies, and it was clear Charles' Xavier's message of peace was not realistic to Pyro's experiences, which include a great deal of violence. So he decided Magneto was right by saying the only way to fight violence is with violence.

Because Charles always teach freedom of choice for every mutant (even when this seems contradictory considering what he has done with Jean's mind). Pyro's has a choice, Magneto saw the chance to gain a powerful (but not very smart) ally... and that's all!

He was angry. His personality really wasn't in sync with Xavier's philosophies. He's angry that he's being persecuted for being different and wonder why he shouldn't be respected. Which is why in X2 instead of surrendering to the police, he lashed out at them - contrary to what Wolverine - the berserker - in the same situation did which was to try to surrender or submit.

So when he saw Magneto, a man who fought and didn't hide from persecution, he joined up. Magneto made him feel like special and affirmed his right (need) to be respected

Pyro was already know to be a bad ***. So why no join up with someone that let him go off with his blood lust. His powers really wasn't all that great. He can't make fire but he can control it. As it goes in the comic books Magneto didn't keep him around for long.

Pyro saw the way to get revenge and vent his anger through Magneto. Compromise and cooperation are two words missing from his vocabulary. He wants others, all those frightened and ignorant humans, to pay for their stance against mutants. So in essence he has turned into one of the very people he is supposedly loathes.

Pyro wanted to use his powers, flaunt them, blow all kinds of things up without having to worry about getting detention afterward. Magneto needs mutants to follow him that are not afraid to flaunt and push their powers to the max, and the more destruction the better.

In the comics, Pyro was not as complicated. He wanted to do scores and get paid and being a bad guy was more enjoyable to him. He hooked up with Toad, Blob and Avalanche who became the "New" Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
