Dude, play the song called "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes. That song is awsome dude! Especially since that band only has two members, the lead singer plays the guitar and bass and sings all at the same time(He has a double neck guitar). But that is an awsome song to learn.!!!

No More Tears-Ozzy
No Excuses-Alice In Chains
oddly enough the same bass player (Mike Inez same as on AIC's "Would?")
Turn Out The Lights-Bad Religon
Against The Grain-Bad Religon(use a pick, almost impossible w/ fingers)
pretty much any Rush.

Try some Red Hot Chilli Peppers for some funky but not too taxing bass lines. Something like 'Higher Ground'

Good question. A few songs come immediately to mind. Soul to Squeeze by the Chili Peppers, Walking on the Moon by the Police, and Penny Lane by The Beatles. But my all time favorite is Big Empty by the Stone Temple Pilots.

"Higher Ground" as covered by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. (You could also try the original by Stevie Wonder. It's a bit slower and has more of a funk feel to it.).
If you want '80s, try "Epic" by Faith No More. Anything by Metallica is a good bet, too, especially "One" from *...And Justice For All.* If you can keep up with that, you're going in the right direction.
