if a public official like( a principal) offends a student what kind of law suit is that-
like the school that asked the cheerleader about her sexual activities- what kind of law suite would that be

it all depends...meerly offending someone is not enough to open liability for a lawsuit.

The principle would have to discriminate, or defame the person in some way...or to take away a fundamental right that the Constitution afford to the student.

I am not familiar with the situtation you are quoting but it doesn't seem like the principal is subject to a lawsuit....he shoudl just be reported and possibly fired by the school board if they see fit.

The first answerer quoted human rights violations...well this does not exist in this manner in the US...if it is not granted by the Constitution or by laws under the constitution it is not recognized....students loose many rights in schools.

I would assume it is a human rights violation. Although there may be other things involved if the student is a minor.
If someone asked me about my sex life, it would be human rights violation (or employment, if it was in the course of work). However, if someone asked my CHILD about his/her sex life, I may consider contacting the authorities before I went the civil suit route.
