Rose petals, daisy petals, dollar bills (creative, you said), checks for whatever amount (still being creative), pop corn (but why waste such good pop corn?), dyed cotton balls (what litter afterwards!), dyed styrofoam balls (still the litter afterwards), or everyone simply clap and cheer as the bride and groom walk down and out the church (free - $-wise and litter-wise, as well as headache-wise).

Bubbles, candy, release a horde of monarch butterflies, Paintball firing squad (for sporting guys and gal unions,) Mylar confetti (best at night with ground lighting,) paper streamers, whippersnappers (those little paper fireworks that go off when they hit the ground,) gerbils with parachutes (same-sex unions) or just have every body throw hand-fulls of those little keyring sized rubber dolls like the mini-treasure trolls or M.U.S.C.L.E. figures...

I have been to a wedding and they lit sparklers instead of throwing things.. that was different kinda cool. You could always throw those snapper things.. fircrackers lol. What about cheerios then the birds would eat it so you wouldnt have to clean up.

I've seen people give out the tiny bottles of bubbles and blow bubbles at the bride and groom. Also, if they are leaving at night I have seen them use sparklers (that was really pretty). Of course, you wouldn't want them to throw the sparklers.

If it's a skinny couple throw donuts at them.
If you don't like the couple throw bricks at them.
If they smell bad throw deodorant.
If they have a couple of kids already throw them some birth control.

Anything that you would throw except for the things mentioned in your question would be nontraditional.
