Why do prison officials pamper inmates?

There's a prison riot in Indiana. The news reporter said "Prisoners are in control of some of the prison" That's just stupid. Why don't they just shoot a few prisoners.

Prison should be the worst place on earth. So bad that when they are released the ex con wont even Jay walk. No TV poor baby. I paid for my TV.

Because the liberals think that prison should be like a free resort for the criminals. If a prisoner attacks a guard and is hurt in the scuffle, the liberals get angry with the guard for defending himself against the attack and yell for him to be fired, and help the prisoner (who initiated the attack) sue.

Law-abiding people have to pay for cable, medical and dental care, (if they cannot afford it they have to do without it) a gym membership if they want one, and internet access, (again, if they cannot afford these they have to do without them) but liberals think criminals should get all this for free, and they think they have to right to act out if they do not have it.

Also, during riots, the guards are not allowed to do anything that would harm the prisoners that are rioting, no matter how much the prisoners are hurting the guards or other staff members, because the liberals hate to see prisoners getting hurt. They do not mind when innocent people are harmed by criminals though.

Thanks to the liberals, the criminals are in control.

Aww, some prisons make them buy their own TVs! I bought my own TV, why should my tax dollars buy one for criminal scum?

Because those prisoners have families on the outside. And those families can get LAWYERS- and SUE the State for zillions of dollars for shooting the people under their "care". And THAT money ends up coming out of everyones "pockets" in the form of higher taxes- every time there's a prison riot where inmates get shot. :)

Sounds like some people have no real idea about what prisoners are allowed to do. People serving life sentences can get their GED, can attend school. They get rec time outdoors, and CAN WEIGHT LIFT IN MANY STATES. Supposedly it takes the edge off them, but in reality t only makes them more of threat to the guards and to eachother.

Prisoners can get televisions, and cable. They get three square meals a day. Much better than many innocent people in America. Many people who spent years in prison commit crimes in order to return.

Even given the odd perks prisoners have to contend with sexual assault and physical attack by other convicts. Many white prisoners are highly outnumbered and are forced to either turn sissy, ie become everyones play toy, or to band together and fight. There is quite a large amount of racism in prisoners, blacks banding with blacks, latinos with latinos, whites with whties; and yes these groups are also split due to gang affiliations.

Hey dippy, if prison is so great why aren't you trying to get in there? Sure you support the Iraq War because it's so great as well, which is why you are not there either? Funny how Bush "outsourced" this prison to a private security firm that gave him big bucks, most inmates say it's overcrowded and they are 4 to a 2 bed room. Wonder if the tax payers are getting a break due to this is are we seeing more bush crony welfare?

Last time I checked, there was still a law against shooting even murderers. The State reserves the right to kill them, unless of course these rioters are armed and the guards can prove self-defense in a court of law.

People need to remember:
You go to prison as punishment, not for punishment.
The loss of ones freedom is the punishment. The conditions inside are for security.
It is up to the judge to determine the punisment: the loss of your freedom. Not the jailer.

Some people in prison are there for the smallest crimes, such as stealing 500 bucks. I hardly believe they should be shot. Others for rape and murder, maybe they should. But Prisons obligated to protect prisoners as they have no right or real means to protect themselves. They are incapacitated while in custody of the state etc.

Prison riots are only the product of poor prison management and employees - as these people are in control. Prisoners should not be punished for these employees incompetence.

Prisons are no longer a deterrent. Prisoners get to watch TV, do muscle building, eat good food, etc..

Liberals even think felons should be given the right to vote.

You bumped your head, right? Or are you normally just stupid?

Two or three guys live in a 4.5 x 10 foot cell.
There is no weightlifting anymore.
TV's they have to buy out of their own (or families) pocket, or share one TV with 20 other guys. There's no "cable." Every C/O will tell you that giving the inmates access to TV keeps them occupied and focused on things besides trouble.
The food it nutritionally deficient.
They get to have bed bugs.

Remember, most of these guys will parole out, and back on the streets. How mean to you want them to be? Deny them the ability to stay occupied, to keep up with current events, to regain their humanity?

I've worked inside prisons. There is no pampering, no gyms (they've all been converted to overcrowded housing), no cable TV, no weightlifting, and usually not enough jobs to keep them occupied.

Following the questioner's lack of intelligent thought, will only breed more vicious felons, when there's no need to.

The worst place on earth, the minds of people who want to revert to the dark ages.
