Yeah, a company is sueing my dad. Firstly, I don't really understand what being sued is, but I am obviously quite worried for him. How can I support him and what does it actually mean to get sued?

from what i understand about getting sued it is... someone wants to take your "dad" to court b/c he did something wrong.

like mcdonald's has gotten sued before b/c a lady dropped her coffee in her lap and burned her self and sued b/c the cup didnt say 'caution hot!' lol...
he most of did something wrong i guess....

Being sued means someone thinks that they have an enforceable claim for a remedy against someone else. Usually that remedy is money. Sometimes it is over an unpaid debt, sometimes it is over an accident, but being sued does not mean that the person sued is wrong. That's why it is done in a court.

The best thing you can do to support him is leave him alone about it. He probably has a lawyer to give him all the help possible, and there's not much you can do besides not make him stress over it by having to explain it to you, it could be really complicated, and he may not really know the answers until it is over.

Getting sued simply means that someone has filed a civil action or charge against your Dad and is asking the court to render a judgment. Most times, they ask for a jury trial in order to have a "trier of fact." This is where they present their case, and your Dad presents his defense, and the jury decides who is right.

There really isn't anything that you can do to help him at this point, unless you are a good attorney.

Hope everything works out for you.
