There are two reasons – fear and ignorance.
Look at what some of the posters above are saying. Science is evil. Science is a religion. Even if evolution exists, it doesn’t apply to humans for whatever reason. Man evolved from monkeys. Humans were soil...which then became bacteria?? Are you serious??? None of those people have the slightest correct concept of evolution or else they wouldn’t make these ignorant and foolish statements. Good luck trying to enlighten them. They are either too scared to educate themselves, or blissfully ignorant and don't want to change.

Hello. The Berg.
The Anthopolist have found bones of Modern Men as old as the Cromagnon or Nerdhental, it means that the "Ape Men" was live at the same time of the Modern Men.
I believe that the world evolves, the plants, the earth, the soil, the fishes, the birds, but not the men. Because, the men was appear over the earth, when the planet became complete.
It is not religious, the scientist don't have an agreement. In fact, the Bible don't have any text against the Evolution, if you read the Genesis, you can find the creation of Big Monsters of the Sea, they could be the dinosaurs.
I hope to help you with this.
Regards.
Tony Blanco.

Well, people mostly reject the concept of evolution because it contradicts their religious beliefs. To accept that the species living on Earth today evolved is to believe that much of the Bible does not represent the literal truth. Jonah and the whale? All species fitting into the ark? Genesis in 7 days?
Many people have been taught since early childhood (by respected people such as parents and priests) that their religion speaks the truth. Religion brings a sense of comfort and community to many. To hear an alternative view, however rationally backed by evidence, runs in direct conflict with what many have heard for most of their lives. That can be a scary thing, and it becomes easier to reject than accept.
Religion is based on faith, not evidence. Science is backed up by evidence, not beliefs. As Gould said, science is an inquiry about the factual state of the natural world, religion is a search for spiritual meaning and ethical values. The two are not in conflict. My only issues are when intelligent design is trying to pass itself off as science (which it isn't) or with the teaching of creationist beliefs in a biology class (which is completely inapropriate).

Typically, people who don't accept evolution are American fundamentalist Protestant Christians. They typically have lower educations; nationwide, acceptance of special creation is around 60%, with a college degree, that drops to around 40%, and with an advanced degree in a scientific field, it drops much further.
Many Christians worldwide, up to and including the Pope, have no problem reconciling faith with acceptance of the theory of evolution. They believe that the creation accounts in Genesis are a mythological account of creation, no more appropriate to the modern world than the Levitican prohibitions against eating shrimp or pork, wearing clothes made out of two different fabrics, or sowing fields with two different kinds of grain.
So it's a pretty narrow group, although they are a majority in the United States. Funny that a nation that has spent 200 years at the leading edge of technological and scientific discovery should be the last bastion of antiscientific dogma in the industrial world. (I believe that parts of the Muslim world also reject the theory of evolution, but if you want English speakers who believe in special creation, like what you'll see on this site, they're almost all Americans).

They don't distinguish between science and religion. They view their religion as an alternative explanation then evolution. But evolution is part of science and creation is just a story from a religion.

Not everyone shares the same concepts as scientist want them to believe.... and i am one of them as i do not believe in evolution. I more support the fact of adaptation ,but evolution? ha..than man evolved from monkeys? If that was the case why has the process stopped? not everything people spoon feed us we should be quick to swallow it.

I don't believe in those evolution theories.because being logic doesn't mean they r true.
and they may seem logic to some people while not to others.
and I'm one of those others.
I believe there is a relation between human and other exicting species.but not that humans were soil which became bacteria with those fantastic sun rays then into fungus then into primitive plants to animals till reaching apes.
i also believe that I shouldn't believe in sth that is not logic to me.evolution is not logic for me.
I hope u respect what I think even if it opposes what u think

People can believe whatever they want. They believed the world was flat...but it isn't. They believed the earth was the center of the universe....it isn't. Science isn't a democracy...they don't have to get it for it to be true.
When they start pawning off religion as "intelligent design" and put it in science class...that's when to get mad.
People can have faith in whatever they like. Ignorance is bliss.
