I totally agree!
They keep importing labor (even white collar jobs here)... what happens to our own students who paid USD for college, incurr the debt and cannot find jobs??? Isn't it messed up that these foreigners can go to school in their own countries (for free sometimes as the UN fund their school) can get here and work without the debt issue???
I am a foreigner but have done all 4 years college here and have seen first hand what ordinary college kids have to go through for college tuition.... there will be a backlash if this continue... economic wise for local Americans.
Oh BTW... most of them made the money here and would buy a house back home/products back home where is cheaper... loyalties is not necessary here in the U.S.

YOU ARE SOOOO RIGHT! How do you like this: My Hus is getting sent to another hospital to work tonight because we have an Indian nurse (housing and other fees paid by the US and the hospital) who works in our unit. She is not knowledgeable. They are AFRAID to send HER to the other hospital because she can't do anything alone because her skills are so bad. PLUS, her English is SO bad you must REPEATEDLY ask her what she is saying. Sometimes we get her to write down what she is trying to say.
I'm not saying ALL Indian nurses are bad, but we are all paying for this one to be here!
It's just NOT right! This woman is getting paid more than an American nurse with the same experience.
Taranto, It is true that most schools that have programs for (registered) nursing have HUGE waiting lists. The last time (last year) I applied to my school of choice here in GA, I was one of over 400 people applying for 83 spots. After four years of trying, I have decided to give up and go to school to become an LPN. The pay is less than half and over half of the hospitals in the US will not hire LPNs. At least it will put me closer to the top of the waiting lists for RN school.
Brian, we are not saying there is not a demand for nurses. As a matter of fact, the demand is the problem. Nurses who would be teachers have been lured back to work. There are not enough nursing SCHOOLS. Check this out: www.destinationamerica.com

I don't believe your premise is correct, but I'm open to being shown I'm wrong. I believe we simply don't produce enough nurses and doctors within our own society. Have you seen the want ads in the paper for nurses? You can become a nurse almost anywhere in the country. I don't know if California has a problem or not.

Compared with the worldwide average, all 30 industrialized countries, including the USA, have extremely low infant mortality rates. However, one reason ours is higher than the other industrialized countries is because different countries have different ways of counting it. For example, our doctors are able to save extremely premature babies that would not have been counted as live births in other countries. If the premie doesn't survive, it counts as a death here but not in other countries. If all countries counted infant mortality the same way, the US would be at the top of the list.

They are doing it because demand exceeds supply. It is simple economics.
There are still plenty of schools in the US where you can go to become a nurse. I don't believe that there are five year waiting lists for nursing schools. Here is a link to Nursing Schools in California.

It's all down to money. Foreign labour is cheaper, therefore they get employed, therefore local labour are not, therefore there is no money in training new local labour.
Just be thankful that you have nurses and doctors from whatever country; pity the country they have all left in order to earn big bucks.

you need to address that with your state. your tax dollars are failling you. here in virginia, we have lots of nursing programs that are really good, and i personally know quite a few people who've graduated from great schools around here.

well it's not the fault of america but of the nurses and doctors that are born with the ambition of not serving their homelands but to leave it for good and move to america to serve.......isn't it strange and a paradox of love to one's country..?
