I have seen some of the votes coming in and Dirk is leading the cause.

I heard an interview where one writer said he picked Dirk because of history and that he wasn't ready to put Nash in the same level as Bird, Russell and the others.

I find it insulting that they would base their choice for MVP on history or past winners. I thought choosing the MVP was based on quality of play for the current year. I thought choosing the MVP was based on if the candidate made his team better.

Nash has surely improved from last year. Nash makes everyone better. Nash is the best playmaker in the league. Nash is the smartest player in the league. The Suns win when he is on the floor and look like fish out of water when he doesn't play.

Dirk is a great player on a team that has the most wins. The Mavericks can still win when he is out of the game. That is the difference bewteen Nash and Dirk.

Nash deserves MVP, but Columnists are going to write him second because of past MVP's. Unfair?

It's clear to see that Dirk is a good choice for MVP, but hands down Nash deserves it over Dirk. Being the best player on the best team doesnt prove you are MVP material. Look at the Mavs to begin with. Their whole team consists of guys to can run a team on their own. If dirk fails, Howard is there, if Howard fails, Terry or Harris or even Stackhouse is there to pull the team up. The Mavs are a good team whether or not they have Dirk. The Suns on the other hand are a different story. Before they acquired nash again, they were horrible. They still had Marion and Amare but they sucked balls. They acquire Nash the next season, they become the best team in the league. Needless to say, Nash is the heart and soul of the Suns. And that's what an MVP should be. A person that makes the team better.

Also, Nash's stats in this season are way better than Dirks. Assists? Nash's FG% is over 50%, for a point guard! That is an amazing feat. Even Nash's 3-point% is better than most of the players FG% in the league. He has improved each year he has played with the Suns. Columnist and writers just dont want a Canadian winning it 3 times in a row, that's just my opinion, and you all can dissagree with that but i think its true. I dont think they'll have a problem if it was any other player in the league. History..

If dirk actually wins MVP this year, i think the voters are on some serious strong stuff.

I know i wont get best answer because you asked an opionated question with your opinion so you will pick the person who backs up your opinion the best. I understand that.

Nash is an amazing player, and if he won MVP who could be mad he deserves it. But Dirk is having an amazing season. Dirk is the best player on the best team which someone has said that does not warrant MVP. Ok so Mav's would be the #1 seed or hell even in the top 6 without Dirk, No Terry's is not that consistent, Whoever said harris is a leader is smoking, Howard is too young eventhough he is the second best on the team and Stackhouse is a sixthman.

I seriously believe that Nash can work his Magic and leave the court and Suns Could still be in the top 5. Because the thing about Nash is that he makes players better when he is on and off the court. He has changed so many players from either good to great or who? to great. Joe Johnson and Q Rich who both had good seasons were players of Nash two years ago. Diaw and Raja Bell and the best example 6th Man of the Year the Brazillian Blur Leandro Barbosa who has done amazing. And Nash is an amazing shooter, FT's and 3's.

So If i were to give it to someone I would give it to Dirk, but I also like one of the Answers was for Co-MVP's Dirk and Nash.

Hey as horrible as it sounds you gotta remeber that the people who vote for MVP are all human beings. That's why they will probably never choose Kobe as the league's MVP. Hey believe it or not having 3 league MVP and no rings would not place Nash in the same company as Russell. Heck him having 3 MVP and one ring wouldn't do it either. I say go ahead and give the man his 3rd MVP in a row. Who really cares about that anyway. The regular season MVP is great but winning a title is even better. Dirk doesn't deservce to in the MVP either. Dirk is not a finisher. I know he puts up huge numbers during the regular season but Dirk is not a finisher.

Give Nash his just do, but Nash cannot finish either. Last year with Nash but without Amare the Suns collaspe in the playoffs. The real MVP should be someone else anyway. I'm not hating on Nash but getting your team to the playoffs is not not good enough. The Suns would make it to the playoffs even without Nash. I know you might get offended but the Lakers are barely 500 and they made it to the playoffs. The Golden State Warriors made it with the same record.

No, even though nash improved his stats across the boards, compared to the past couple of years where he won mvp, i still think dirk will win mvp. The reason i am saying this is because i dont think any of the voters will have the heart to give him 3 straight mvp, even though he will deserve it if he gets it. But i still think dirk equally deserves it, just look back 2 years ago, when statistically shaq was much better and shaq was just as valuable as nash was. But nash took the suns from the worst record to the best record, and that was enuf for him to squeeze it out. This is the reg season mvp, and dallas getting 67 wins in reg. season is very impressive and dirk was really an important part of it. But i dont think suns fans should be upset if nash doesnt win mvp, bc i am sure we would and nash would rather win nba finals mvp, and bring phoenix its first championship than winning an mvp again.

I think Dirk should be the MVP so I guess I disagree with you, Dirk is the best player on the best team and that's usually what the MVP is about. Dirk has been playing outstanding basketball all year as well as the rest of the Mavs. But it wouldn't be a bad choice to give it to Nash either as he also has been playing outstanding all year long. It's a tough decision, but me personally I lean towards Dirk.

thank you for agreeing with me...i've been saying tthe same thing for so long, and i knew it was going to happen. nash deserves it more then anybody in the nba right now. you should not compare him to past players. they should be comparing him to players playing now, and he's proven he deserves way more the dirk "the choke" nowitzki. seriously...has dirk ever actually won a game for the mavs? like a game winning shot? i know jason terry has, devon harris has, howard has...dirk? i remember him missing a shot from the elbow to beat the suns in triple overtime, and last year in the playoffs shooting below .500. and even this year in the playoffs, i know it's early, but did you see him last game? he was absolutely horrible. and nash has been consistently putting up winning numbers. it's absolutely absord....and no...the best player on the best team is not what mvp is about....get your facts straight guy above me

Oddly, this puts Steve Nash in the same class with Michael Jordan and Shaquille O'Neal, in that they will have all lost out on an MVP they should have won.

Honestly, if you mean 'valuable', it's Kobe Bryant. No player comes close to being more valuable to his team. If Kobe had gotten injured at the start of the season and been out for the year, he would have had Greg Oden to greet him when he got back.
