80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Note: Humans are the only species out of the MILLIONS here on Earth with a higher intelligence. I feel that the meaning of our lives as humans is to take care of the Earth and all of the things within it. If it were not our job, other animals/species would have the power to change things the way we do. Just look at the things we are capable of. Unfortunately we are doing more harm than good, but I believe that it's because so few people realize that that is our JOB. If everyone looked at life that way, maybe we would all be working together to save the planet and it's inhabitants. Instead, we are extincting many animal species and the Earth itself is melting around us. That only makes it more clear to me that it IS our job to take care of the Earth. It's an honor and I'm sad to see that most people think nothing of it.

May not be entertaing but it's my point of view.

There is no 'meaning of life'. That is to say that there is no where to get to, nothing to achieve or create, no final answer to find.

Once you know that there is nothing to do and nowhere to get to, you have a free mind to do as you wish with your life.

Don't allow anyone or any group tell you what you must do in order to 'fit in'.

live your life how you want, experience all of the life you wish, and have no regrets when it is all coming to an end.

Obviously, there is no one, universal "meaning."

Each person finds their individual "meaning" to life.

For some, it may involve marriage and family.

For another, it might be teaching an academic subject or tutoring a young artist or musician.

For another, it might be complete, total hedonism.

For another, it might be the life of a slacker; taking the path of least resistance wherever possible.

For me...it is maintaining somewhat of a balance between enjoying the beauty and pleasures of life, and helping others in need.

Don't care about points, but i think that the meaning of life is to make a positive impact on the world (none of this Hitler bullsh*t)... if you make a impact on the world then at least when you die you'll be remembered, and hopefully missed... its sort of like being immortal but not as impossible

The meaning if life is love. Loving life, family, friends, enemies. If there is no LOVE than what ??? Is life still worth living? Many think that if you have no one to love and no one loves you then life is over. Not true....I believe that Love is the answer. There is always someone that loves you!! It's me~~I love all. Love, leads to happiness and happiness leads to a life worth living!!!
