Indirectly, maybe. I think the root cause is a lack of moral guidance about what's right and what's completely wrong. From what I read & see in the news, the way kids are being raised today, they can't distinguish between right & wrong. And you can't blame the child, coz kids come into this world knowing nothing.....what they learn depends on their parents & other elders around them. People get so wrapped up in their own lives, they only tend to provide money to their kids so that they're fed & clothed & sent to school.....what about teaching them the difference between good & evil?

From what I've observed, if you're raised well at home, then you're capable of making the right choices no matter what you're exposed to.

No. Violence is a part of nature. It has always been there, and always will be. There is just so mcuh hype about every little conflict. You know, like "shot heard 'round the world" except that with such quick communication, every shot is heard 'round the world, so to speak. The news takes every violent act in the world and gives it to us in an hour's worth of television, and they act like one death is some huge tragedy, when it's really not.

There is far less violence in the world today, than ever in history.

No. There was violence before video games and TV and there will continue to be violence in the future despite positive efforts. Human history is littered with war, murder and hatred...media outlets have had little or no impact on the degree, in my opinion.

No. And this argument has been going on forever.

It was Penny Dreadful Novels, then gothic books, then radio, then movies, then television, then video games.

There is always going to be some kind of scapegoat as to why people are violent, not looking at the real reason: lack of genuine human interaction.

nope, if you ask me TV and video games etc are stress relievers and stress gainers (for certain games) but for some folks if they don't have these they might just take they frustration out on the wrong things, no one wants that

plus violence been going on for centuries, if this was the case shouldn't we say the same thing about animals? no because it's sad but natural

No. I think it is greed and people with no morals. The things you mentioned are just used to make people callous and numb about death and violence and just help them to become more prone to enacting violence themselves. Or just ignoring it completely.

no...

there was much more violence (per capita, anyway) before those media forms came about.

Or, as Dick Cavett put it: "There's so much comedy on television. Does that lead to comedy in the streets?"
