The first book I had read to me was Dr. Seuss's ABCs. My parents read it to me practically every night when I was a baby, starting the day I was born. I thank them for reading to me so much before I could read for myself for my love of books.

My favorite book while I was learning to read (I was three or four) was Richard Scarey's big picture word book. The book I most remember being read to me was "The Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler", and the first multi-chapter book I ever read for myself was "Anne of Green Gables".

Harry and the Terrible Whatsit (about a child being afraid of monsters and the dark), Goodnight Moon (an award winning classic, about saying goodnight to all the things you are grateful for) and Where the Sidewalk Ends (great poems for children). I'm pushing 30 and still have these books...I read them to my little one.

The first book I had read to me was probably "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss. The first book I read on my own was the Babysitter's Club.

Dr. Seuss's 'Green Eggs and Ham'. I read it to all my siblings and my kids so often I could probably recite the whole book.
My first chapter book was 'On the Banks of Plum Creek' by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I don't remember the title. But it was about an elephant that wanted to be a leopard. And so he had this leopard patterned cloth that he wore on his back. And then one day there is this fire. And the leopards are freaking out. And the elephant decided that he will use his trunk to get water and put the fire out. And thats when he learns its pretty cool to be an elephant too.
