You missed the ending?!?! It was Old Man Habberschmidt! He had been trying to spook the owners of the Hillside Library out of that building for years. When he placed the so called "ghost poo" in the library he was successful in scaring the McLeary's out, but instead of having the library to himself, 4 crazy kids came in and caught him putting the powered sugar on the goat crap and they knew that it was he who had created the "ghost poo," and not some fecetious spirit.
And he would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling kids.

yeah, remember when they took off the poo's mask and there was another poo under the neath? then they took that mask off and found another poo and another and another, but instead of the poo getting smaller and smaller it got bigger and bigger.
