Do they have a backup plan? There is much outcry against Bush for not having a withdrawl plan. What is the plan from the left when we leave and all hell breaks loose over there? Do we go back in or just ignor it. What happens when gas goes to $6.00? Are there plans for this or is their "plan" just to get up and leave?

From what I can tell we will end up using words to try to stop extremists groups whose greatest ambition is the destruction of the west (us). I have not been shown nor heard any relevant discourse between the democratic leadership and the people which shows any true practical strategy for a post extraction of US troops from Iraq. Just as with Vietnam when we abandoned the South Vietnamese and the 1st Gulf War when we abandoned the uprising against Saddam's regime we will end up breaking our word and leave them to die.
Sorry if this is too serious but I feel strongly on this subject. You all take care now.

Gas has been increasing since we have been there. So I don't think our leaving will be responsible for a price hike.

Also if we leave now or 50 years from now all Hell will break loose...our staying there will not ensure anything except a huge crash into chaos after we leave

I don't know about the Democrats but here would be my plan:
We tell Iraq we are leaving and to get their together.
Leave
Shore up our borders
Respond to any terror attack by nuking something the terrorists care about...tell them we will do again
Invent and patent real, practical alternative energy technology
Tell the oil barons they can suck it
If Iraq becomes our enemy we point weapons and let them know we will push button.

We only have one government at a time. The Democrats dont need to have a plan. Anyway, people with your attitude just piss me off. Why don't you just require liberals to wear an armpatch with an "L" on it like Hitler did to the Jews? Remember, we get very little oil from the mid-East. In effect, we're acting like a police force for Europe while they don't pay us a penny. Somehow Europe has managed to survive with $6 gas, we'll muddle through. If you want a plan, the US should build two big bases in Iraq, one in the Kurdish North, which will keep Turkey happy and Syria unhappy, and one in the South, which will keep Iran unhappy.

Here's a plan: "who gives a flying f***?"

why were we in Iraq to begin with? because the Bush administration fudged intelligence to make it seem as thought Iraq was associated with the 9-11 attacks - which by all reasonable intelligence accounts, and even the data leading up to the attacks ("Bin Laden Determined to strike the U.S.") - Iraq was not involved in the 9-11 attacks

...unless of course you're referring to more cherry-picked half-truth-"data" extrapolated into a realm based nowhere in any sort of reality - which, if you're a CON Bush-tard, you of course rely solely on that type of data

what happens when gas is $6.00 a gallon? why, we indict our oil company ceos for extorotion and probably treason if it begins happening any time soon, considering estimates say we're a couple decades in the clear with the oil reserves that are within the U.S.'s borders - then have the gov't take over their corrupt companies

what happens when gas is $6.00 a gallon? what happens when it will eventually become that price ANYWAY, DESPITE the CON insistence on killing U.S. troops in needless wars?

what happens when gas becomes $6.00 a gallon anyway when we have ZERO alternative energy replacements worked out or even on the drawing board due to astounding CON negligence and kowtowing to the oil industry?

what happens when we have NO MORE realistically refinable oil PERIOD? THEN what? the CON plan de-volves humanity into a constantly warring group fighting over scraps - the Democratic plan is progressive, always seeking sane alternatives.

when... all h*ll breaks loose?

I think it's a bit late for that... they are in civil war right now, and there's not a lot we can do about it...

and I don't know if you've noticed, but gas isn't exactly going down because we're over there... while we're over there, the pipelines keep getting bombed... and I don't see how you could do much more than "no oil"...

it's like you're standing on the deck of the Titanic saying "what is our backup plan for the ship when we leave?" while the ship sinks around you.

the plan is to pull out and let the region sort its self out... instead of just sitting around in the middle of a civil war acting like we're making a difference...

I'm sure that there will be aid, supplies and weapons given to the curent Iraqi government

Exactly

There is no real plan when we leave from either party.
All hell will break loose and we'll probably be back there.
There is no plan when gas reaches $6 per gallons

Redeployment. To create a quick reaction force in the region. To create an over-the-horizon presence of Marines.
To diplomatically pursue security and stability in Iraq. if we leave iraq will break out in chaos as opposed to the chaos already going on there? Why would gas go to $6 if we leave?, it should go down, just like the violence in iraq soon after we leave.

we've been over there what four years now, Yes i've personally been to iraq, and the place is still in chaos. What options do Dems. have? Just bring the troops home and let the iraqis settle their own civil war

The dems plan for that is the same plan for everything else : If it works out, take the credit. If it doesn't blame somebody else.
