We need to control the middle east because we need their oil to sustain our economy. Why do you people think this war was started in the first place?" Obviously he cannot say that but I bet it is driving him crazy that he can't just admit it and get on with it.

I get what you are saying gz but are you telling me that there is a way to fix all of this? So that we can all just move on? Oil is imperative. There is no getting away from it. Can you see a solution to the worlds oil problems because I know that there is absolutely no one on this earth today that has a clue on how we are going to kick the worlds addiction on oil.

Clueless Dumbya?? He and the Dumbyabots should get a clue and know that even ALL the oil in the Middle East would not a sustainable energy policy make. If the price of a hypothetical conquest of same was factored in, and plainly added to the pump price, it would be one that NO one would rationally pay. Of course Dumbya would not want to conquer said oil for all Americans to benefit, but rather for oil PROFITS for his cronies. No blood for oil! Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

I think you have to read between the lines., to admit that, would probably cause panic.and chaos..Unfortunately there are no easy answers,Anything we could do as far as an alternative would probably use to much energy. Fighting wars in the middle east to me is not worth the price of lives lost. But then again maybe that is the point. I watched this documentary called the end of suburbia it was pretty good. You can probably google it.

What? You want the president of the United States to state the obvious. Aren't we over that? Can't we all just move on?
I mean controlling the oil in the Middle East has always been our objective. Because that's the only way that we can control the world and keep everybody else in check. Now that we are stuck in this mess in Iraq, we have no choice but to fix it. I think this is pretty obvious and there is no need for Bush to come out and say it. Why state the obvious?
Of course oil is imperative... and I meant "fixing" our Mesopotamian problem. We need the Middle eastern oil and that's why we can not leave Iraq just like that.

Bush make no secret about oil. He did publicly say we can't let oil fall into hands of 'terrorists' and we need energy supply for our country. I heard him say that at least few times. It's no big gov secret that we need oil. Cheney said similar things too.
I dont know why you're all giddy like you found some 'secret.'
So, thanks for the most mundane trivial fact ever.

Bush needs to get it. If we put half the energy in to finding a cleaner better free energy that we have put into the middle east wars we would all be at peace by now!

It is he who doesn't get it. Properly managed we have enough oil to see us through a period of transition from oil dependency to complete energy independence. Oil men ,of course, are not going to understand that. All their greedly little hearts and minds see is black gold, Texas tea, liquid energy.

I feel your pain but it is his fault for not understanding the simple basics of trade. If you want oil, pay for it. Armed robbery is a crime.
