Yes they do but they are usually catty and do not solve much of any thing. If you and your sister are seriously fighting you need to pick up the phone and call her. Computers are for education not fighting.

It's probably something that happens, although seeing as most text messages cost extra and take longer to type, it's more likely that people still do what you and your sister do. I know my boyfriend and I have had arguments over IM. It's convenient because it gives me time to think out my arguments, but at the same time it's so easy to take something out of context when you don't know what the other person's tone of voice is :/
