Over five years have passed since 9/11, yet many Americans still dangle from the marionette strings of The Ministry of Truth. Rove's propagandists and the mainstream media have enabled "W" to propel the United States into an illegal, imperialistic invasion of Iraq to perpetuate corporate and big oil interests. Tax cuts for the wealthy have shifted the tax burden to the middle and working class, whose numbers are dwindling thanks to corporate overseas job outsourcing. Under a crushing national debt of $7.5 trillion, America is now the reigning king of Debtor Nations, a title once arrogantly bestowed upon developing nations. How can we saddle our children and grandchildren with that burden? At the rate America is going, future generations will become the indentured servants of China and Japan. Social welfare benefits for the poor are substantially diminishing. Government-endorsed discrimination against gays is increasing. The line between church and state delineated by our Constitution is disappearing. Chasm is the new word to describe the gap between the rich and the poor. Inconceivably, many Americans still adore "W", somehow managing to disregard a mountain of evidence of his incompetence, disregard for the working class, and deceit. If one whispers a sweet little lie to oneself long enough, one starts to believe it.

The Army is the largest branch of the Uniformed Service, with total force near 600,000. The Marine Corps is a subordinate service to the Navy whose numbers do not even compare. This being said the Army's force numbers in Iraq/Afghanistan are also much greater. With so many in-country the chances for such occurrences are also much greater. Furthermore the Army is much more bureaucratic than the Marine Corps and more interconnected to the Military-Industrial complex. This gives them more reason to embellish stories from war that would hurt their reputation. I also, however, agree with the standards Issue that is plaguing the Army. The recruiting requirement for inbound soldiers are at a modern-era low. While the Marine Corps has a very disciplined approach to the entire recruitment process. Maybe if we didn't have the press everywhere we fight these things wouldn't be so prevalent. Also, if Pat Tillman wasn't a former NFL player and if Jessica Lynch wasn't Female these stories would have been downplayed and forgotten.

Just plain sad! I cant believe that we get fed this stuff so frequently. I think anytime a hero story comes out you have to actually have someone there to verify the story with access to the original data.

Cons are willing to support the troops as a general concept, unless they "god forbid' say something about the war that embarasses or contradicts the deserter in chief, then they are suddenly "traitors".

I feel so badly for this people ,have they not given enough. Haven't all the military given enough. They are Americans and entitled to say anything they please. Sometimes, I think Bush is like a child that just can't say I am sorry I made a mistake.
