That was just a rumour. Only when the publisher makes the official announcement is the publish date set. People wanted it to come out on 7-7-07 because it is a neat date and that's it. Sorry that you have to wait an additional 2 weeks from what you thought you had to!

It wasn't changed. It never was scheduled to come out on 7-7-07. People only talked about that date because they thought it would be "significant", as it is composed of so many "lucky" sevens.

that was just a rumor, it was turned down by JKRowling long ago, and 'confirmed' as a rumor when the date of 7-21-07 was released.
