I AM CERTAIN YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE LEGENDARY WRITINGS OF THE AUTHOR; ANNE RICE.
AMONG WHICH IS THE CELEBRATED-'THE VAMPIRE LESTAT' WHICH WAS ALSO MADE INTO A MOVIE /
STARRING ;BRAD PITT, TOM CRUISE AND ANTONIO
BANDERAS. THIS FILM IS AVAILABLE ON DVD-IT SHOULD 'DELIGHT' YOU.
OTHER BOOKS I HAVE READ BY ANNE RICE ARE;
'MERRICK' WHICH IS SPELL-BINDING. I ALSO RECOMMEND- 'THE VAMPIRE ARMAND' FROM THE FAMED 'VAMPIRE CHRONICLES'. THIS IS [MUST READ]
FOR VAMPIRE 'AFICIONADOS' IT IS EXQUISITE IN IT'S
IMAGERY AND REVELATIONS OF THE 'DARK WORLD'.
I TRUST THESE SELECTIONS SHOULD KEEP YOU BUSY.

I HAVE READ MANY OF HER WORKS-THESE ARE THE
ONE'S THAT COME TO THE FOREFRONT.

IF I MAY- I WOULD LIKE TO RECOMMEND THE FILM BY
'FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA'/ "DRACULA". THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL FILM AND SHOULD ENTHRALL ALL THE 'SENSES'. IT STARS A MAGNIFICENT ARRAY OF
NOTABLE ACTORS INCLUDING; GARY OLDMAN,
WINONA RYDER, ANTHONY HOPKINS [ OF 'SILENCE OF THE LAMBS' FAME] AND LAST, BUT NOT LEAST, KEANU

Well, you may first want to consider the book that started it all, Bram Stoker's classic Dracula. This books is hard for some, especially younger readers, as it's told not in a conventional narrative but as a collection of journal entries, letters, and newspaper articles about our favorite Count. But if you stick with it, it's actually a great book and the characters are unforgettable. Just look at how many times it's been turned into a movie and you can see why it's a classic.

Already Dead by Charlie Huston: This one's great, but not for the faint of heart. It's gritty, gory, and and disturbing at times, but also character-driven and well written. Huston's vampires have an established society divided into several different groups and clans. The narrator resists identifying with any particular group, and much of the drama of the story comes from his conflict with others of his kind. Great book.

Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko: This book doesn't deal strictly with vampires, but they do factor into it. It's a dark fantasy set in modern Moscow featuring vampires, magicians, witches, and shape-shifters. Great book about the shifting lines of good and evil. This one's going to become a classic.

Of Saints and Shadows by Christopher Golden: This is an older book, the first in a pretty decent series. The characters are interesting and it's well-written, and it deals with the beginning of humanity's growing awareness of the vampires among them. Good book.

'Salem's Lot by Stephen King: I'm not a King fan for the most part, but I like his older novels, and this is one of his first. It deals with what would happen if a Dracula-style vampire moved into a modern small town. The town doesn't last too long at all. Great, gritty book. Also check out the Dark Tower series, some of the characters surface there.

Hawke's Harbor by S.E. Hinton: This is an interesting, character-driven vampire novel from the same author as The Outsiders. It's a good book all-around.

Agyar by Steven Brust: This is written as a sort of fictional memoir of the vampire Agyar. The narrative is engaging and the characters unique. It also features a very interesting ghost.

I recently read The Historian. It is about historians trying to find Dracula's tomb in Soviet Eastern Europe.

I really like the book Lord of the Dead by Tom Holland. It is about Lord Byron becoming a Vampire. It was quite a fun, indulgent alternate history.

Laurell Hamilton writes a great series. (Anita Blake Series). They are a little "sexual". The Blood Books by Tanya Huff are pretty good too. (Lifetime has adapted them into a series called BloodTies.) The vampire in the series is Henry Fitzroy, the bastard son of Henry VIII. He's a modern day vampire writing romance novels for a living and helping out a private investigator in supernatural cases.

The following website has a HUGE list of vampire books....it goes on for pages http://www.vampires.nu/pages/Books.cfm/PageID/22

I love reading all sorts of books, but not so into vampires. I have, however, heard that Stephenie Meyer is just the best. There is an author I read, that was really great, that has some vampire books as well, Scott Westerfield. Good luck!
