The bath is made of plastic (not steel) and the heat from the light must have melted it. Normally there is water in the tub which stops this happening but as I said it was left on accidently in an empty tub.

wow! this is quite dangerous for electrical shock...please ask an electrician to look at it.. there are safety guidelines for light either in a bath or pool. Are you sure the bath is made of plastic, if so I would not trust that type of design and look into replacing for something better and safer.

I'll assume we are talking about a hot tub. They have plastic lens that fit over the lights to change the color of the light. Could it be that it is as simple as pushing the lens on tight again?

If you can't get any satisfaction from the manufacturer or from the store where you bought it, then try using silicon caulking and seal it with that. I'm sure that the light is a low voltage lamp and even then it is on a ground fault circuit. So it may not be as bad as it seems, but by the same token you don't want to take any chances.

Good luck with the problem.

Wow, lousy design. I would complain to the manufacturer on that. The tub should be able to withstand the heat from the bulb (that is built into the tub). Before you fix it, I would pursue the manufacturer options
