SPX is the S&P 500 index. You'll see that quote like you see the DOW (DJIA) which is 30 stocks.

SPY (Spyders) is the S&P 500 ETF. It's an exchange traded fund that trades close to 1/10 of the SPX. DIA is the ETF for the DOW and trades at 1/100 of the DOW Jones Avg.

Most of the indices and ETFs (DIA, IWM, NDX, QQQQ, SPY) are European style except for the OEX (S&P 100 ETF).

However, you can trade the XEO (also S&P100 ETF) which is European, just not as high volume as the OEX.

Hope that helps!

Yes. TCP/IP is the Internet standard for communications. This is because it is the safest way to send/receive data packets. IPX and SPX are other protocols used by specific systems running other than Windows OS. They are old technology software and VERY vulnerable to attacks. A system that used these a lot was NOVELL (r) Netware (r), which dominated the network world until Windows NT came out. Another similar system was UNIX. In general you should not need these processes running in your system if you use W2K or later.
