LOL How could they possibly know even if they DID? It's not like Romulus and Remus left stone knives and bearskins in mommy's den!

Not quite, but they did find evidence of an early settlement that could be dated to just about 753BCE via dendrochronology, making the Roman dating system of "From the City's Founding" dead on.
