mine to...i remember going to the drug store with a quarter and coming home with a bag full of tootsie rolls rootbeer barrels.. dumdums and the likes

Double Bubble Bubblegum, bite-size Fire Stix, and two other things I don't remember the names of, but they both came in clear packages, a little row of candies. One was little chocolate spheres with candy coating, and the other was little flat indented chalky-like candies, soooooooooo good. Those were all my favorites!
I think the best part was just picking them out... having a nickle or quarter, and taking forever to choose just what to get, down at the little store near the house we lived in. How patient that cashier was!

We've got some real 'old codgers' here. I haven't seen penny candy since the early 50's. Or maybe those were 2 for a penny. Oops guess I told on myself. lol

Oh yes, there was a store near me growing up, that sold nothing but. I loved the Root Beer Barrels too, and Mary Janes... do you remember them? I loved Bazooka Bubble gum too! Oh yea, Spearmint Leaves, Oh man were those good.....What yummy memories. Now they all cost a quarter and up.

I was just thinking about penny candy the other night. I used to get all kinds of good stuff. I think my favorite was the candy cigarettes.

Great minds think alike....I have been searching for this candy that used to be a penny when I was a little girl....We used to call it lipstick- it was red taffy with a silver wrapper around the bottom with plastic cover over it....
Ohhhh I love that candy.....

Mines where those chinese gums that were wrapped in orange paper, and had a fortune inside...you had to buy at least 10 b/c it lost the flavor after like 2 minutes....

I remember. I liked the red coins and black licorice pipes.
And Dots I almost forgot about them! Little pastel dots of candy stuck to paper in rows!
