Yes they do lots of execution, usually mass executions were people is put on line, and kneeling in the ground waiting to get shot in the back of the head, very nasty. Over there you don't need to be a murderers to get the death penalty; you can get the death penalty just for political reasons. There are also people that claim that organs from executed prisoners are being used for spare part surgery (something that is supposed to for forbidden in China). And yes it's been reported that they charge for the bullets.

humanities class?...oh brother...
but to answer your question... the red chinese government has very little concern for human rights, civil rights, individual liberty, or democracy. they have embraced capitalism and are doing quite well with it but that is the only western idea that resonates with them. the 'death penalty' in china is imposed for even minor infractions and yes, they really do charge the victims family for the bullets used to execute said victim. cruelty is a western notion and does not exist in the mindset of the chinese politburo. your 'humanities' class will not even begin to explore the depths of chinese 'cruelty' so if this is a topic you want to find out more about, you'll have to look elsewhere...

Apparently there are lots of misconceptions about China! Of course, China still has capital punishment, dwindling though, but it is not carried out the way you have comprehended and stated! It is definitely done in a manner better than how Saddam Hussein has reportedly been executed by Iraqi government instigated and supported by America! In China, there is a formal trial before death penalty is imposed and carried out, but was there a fair one in Iraq?

They have to be aborted to maintain the population smart one's. And China is big on the death penalty because they need to be. It's either that, or slaughter random people. They need to keep their population in check, or else they will grow in numbers, but they country will not grow in space, they would start to lose their pretty forests, and their animals would become more rare. I don't know about the 17 cents things, but yeah, they're pretty big on the death penalty.

I don't think that is as cruel as making women kill their babies when they accidently get pregnant for the 2nd or 3rd time. If someone is guilty of murder they have the right to prosocute the way they see fit, but what did those poor innocent babies do to deserve to be aborted?
