The system restore point doesn't restore *files*, it just restores *settings*! So if the thing you want back is a *file* then, sorry, you need to look into your backups (if you have any, which you should, and if not, start!) I know, I learned the hard way, and sobbed...

Run
Type msconfig
Press enter
Then look at the bottom for a bottom that
says Launch System restore. Then just follow
the instructions. Good Luck

go to... start ~ all programs ~ accessories ~ system tools ~ system restore.
Choose the option " restore my computer to an earlier time "
A calender will open with useful restore dates being in BOLD ok.
just choose the date and the pc willl do the rest.

start , all programs , accessories , system tools , at the botton of the list you will see system restore

Before doing a restore have a look in the recycle bin, if it is there you will have the option to restore it from there.
