Remember that polyester and disco wouldnt arrive on the scene for another 7 years, and not everyone was a hippy. Hippy fashion was to the 60s/70s what disco was to the late 70s/early 80s to what hip-hop fashion is to the 90s/00's.
Conventional fashion was still mostly '60s style- bell bottom jeans, plain cotton t-shirts or sometimes tie dyes. Short, fitted suits with highwaters, thin ties, tortoiseshell glasses, turtlenecks.

i can remember. There were two things; turtle necks and wide lapel suits with bell bottoms.
For informal wear: it was tie-died shirts and bell bottomed jeans.
