I received over $1000 a month for 11 years from my childrens' father and he recently died. He left a large estate to his children. I am struggling trying to get by with $1K less a month. Anyone know Illinois law who could help me with this?

You children are entitled to a Social security benefit and a portion of his pention. Survivor's benefits that's called. Ask if he has a will. If there is a large state and no will, contact and attorney.

I do not know Illinois law but I believe that the kids might be eligible for Social Security survivors benefits. Contact the
SS administration and/or call a lawyer. Good luck.

You should be able to collect social security benefits for his minor children. I was 14 when my dad died and my mother got money for both my brother and I from SS. Contact your local office. BTW, I am in Missouri.

You should contact a probate attorney. Your children should be entitled to a portion of his estate. They should also be elligible for SS benefits.

Get in touch with a probate attorney first.

Good luck.
